SISTERS IN SERVICE KERRVILLE
In late 2019, Jennifer Natale began a bible study gathering for a small group of ladies. The bible study group grew very quickly but came to a halt in early 2020 with the onset of COVID. The group went online via Zoom to continue to study God’s word and began to hear the call to do more of God’s work in their community.
With the news that, due to COVID, visitors were no longer permitted at the local nursing home facilities, the group was called to their first project to help lift the residents' spirits. Over 800 puzzle books along with bible verses, pens and personal notes were delivered to all the nursing homes.
That project led to the creation of Sisters in Service Kerrville (SISK), the development of an all-volunteer board and, in 2021, becoming a registered 501(c)(3) organization.
During COVID, SISK continued their work by providing "care packages" to more than 700 nursing home employees and all of Kerrville’s first responders, including the police department, sheriff's department, and both full-time / volunteer firefighters. Large banners with encouraging bible verses were delivered to all the Kerrville hospitals to remind those working in the medical field that their efforts were recognized and appreciated.
In 2020, SISK teamed up with the Salvation Army’s Back to School project filling backpacks with school supplies and providing new sneakers for 23 high school students. This project is ongoing and last year we were able to serve approximately 70 high school and junior high school students in Kerr County area with school supplies and shoes.
To further help the area schools, SISK began supplying toiletry essentials like toothbrushes, combs, deodorant, shampoo, feminine hygiene products and/or undergarments. Working with the counselors from each school, elementary through high school, SISK provides these items each year as needed.
Following the devastating Hill Country floods in 2025, SISK quickly came together and began volunteering throughout Kerr County providing leadership and help with intake and sorting of donations, distributing items to those in need, helping with meal preparations and serving food to first responders and those who were impacted by the floods and providing a laundry service for out-of-town first responders. SISK will continue to help our community as it continues to heal and is restored.
Since its inception, SISK has continued to work with various organizations by providing volunteers and financial support for specific projects. SISK support is helping families at the Parenting Resource Center, bringing smiles monthly to children with birthday cupcakes at the Arms of Hope, setting up local students for success with scholarships, providing essential bags for area homeless, providing monetary assistance for meals at Mercy Gate Ministries and Christian Women’s Job Corp and so much more.
To help support the various projects, SISK has an annual fundraiser with all funds raised staying local to help our community.
What started as a bible study group of ten ladies has grown to over 75+ members dedicated to shining God’s light and sharing his love in our community. Please browse the SISK website to learn about our annual fundraiser and other projects we support. SISK hopes you will consider joining us in our volunteer efforts, by providing financial support or with your prayers, as we continue to spread God’s love and bring God glory.
