Our Story

SISTERS IN SERVICE KERRVILLE

In late 2019, Jennifer Natale held a bible study gathering for a small group of ladies. The bible study group grew very quickly. Then in early 2020 with the onset of COVID, the bible study went online via Zoom.

After hearing that nursing home facilities were shutting down to visitors, our group began discussing how we could lift the residents' spirits.

We decided to deliver 800+ word-search books, with bible verses, pens and a personal note to all of the nursing home residents in Kerrville. That first project, led to the creation of Sisters in Service Kerrville.

From there, we provided "care packages" to more than 700 nursing home employees and all of Kerrville’s first responders, including the police department, sheriff's department, and both full-time / volunteer fire fighters.

Next, we teamed up with the Kroc Center in filling backpacks with school supplies and new shoes for 23 high school students.

To remind those working in the medical field that they were loved and appreciated, we made large banners with encouraging bible verses and delivered them (with masks on) to all of Kerrville’s hospitals.

We started a toiletry drive for all KISD. You would be surprised to know just how many students come to school who have not brushed their teeth (not due to forgetting). It is because they don’t have the essentials like toothbrushes, combs, deodorant, shampoo and/or under garments. Working with the counselors from each school, elementary through high school, we were able to provide these items for last year and for this next school year.

From there, we assisted the Parenting Resource Center. We purchased HEB gift cards for several families, as well as delivering bicycles to those children whose family were part of the center’s program.

In between, we received calls from school counselors inquiring about miscellaneous assistance for students in need.

As you can see, we’ve been very busy shining God’s light and sharing his love. In doing so, our Sisters in Service Kerrville has grown from our original 10 members to 74 members and counting.

Today we are a non-profit organization, have a board of volunteers and are excited to continue to grow.

We hope you will consider joining us, as we continue to spread God’s love and bring God glory.
